  Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research (TIPR) is a famous research institute which was ever affiliated to the State Drug Administration (SDA). Up to the present, TIPR has experienced more than 50 years of pharmaceutical research history.

  TIPR is equipped with modern facilities, and its integrate competence ranks high among the institutions of pharmaceutical industry in china. Most of the research projects undertaken by TIPR are key task of the state or projects supported by various funds. By this time, TIPR has acquired 200 new drug certificates (including generic drugs and traditional Chinese medicines) and many achievements. Most of the achievements have been adopted by pharmaceutical manufacturers for production. Thus, TIPR contributes very much to the progress of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry.

  The R&D section of the institute consists of 7 research departments, including synthetic chemistry, traditional Chinese medicines, drug quality control, pharmaceutical preparations, new drugs evaluation (including pharmacology, safety evaluation, pharmacokinetic and clinical pharmacology), pharmaceutical information. The emphasis of R&D is placed upon new drugs, generic drugs, pharmaceutical preparations based on synthetic drugs and traditional Chinese medicines, and new synthetic processes for commercial production of generic drugs.

  As Tianjin Key Laboratories of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics ­-Incubation Base of State Key Laboratory (approved by the MOST of PRC). The Laboratory has six research units: (1) New Drug Discovery; (2) Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics for Chemical and Natural Compounds; (3) Pharmacodynamics; (4) Pharmacokinetics for Bio-tech Products; (5）Safety Evaluation and Toxicokinetics for New Drugs;（6）Clinical Pharmacology Unit.

  Furthermore, TIPR established a Center for New Drug Safety Evaluation and Research according to the requirement of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP, certificated by SFDA) and have completed a lot of experiments about new drug safety evaluation.

  TIPR also holds a pharmaceutical corporation(TIPR Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd), which is an organization integrating scientific research, industrial production and commercial trading into unity, The company is one of the appointed units for the production of psychoactive drugs, products including hypoglycemic, analgesic, psychoactive and cardiovascular drugs etc. and their bulk chemicals, injection, tablets, capsules and oral liquids.
