Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research
Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research (TIPR) was originally founded in 1959, and was one of affiliated research institutes of State Food and Drug Administration, P.R.China (SFDA).The institute became a national key hi-tech industry focused on the development of new drugs since 2000, after organization reform. The institute with profound history has a research team of high skilled and high quality professionals, including academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, specialists receiving state allowance and senior research fellows. In addition, the institute provides Master programs in Chinese Medicine, pharmaceutical science and PhD program in pharmacology, as well as post-doctoral training center.
Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research leads the research in pharmaceutical areas and has seven major research divisions, including center for drug innovation, department of medicinal chemistry, department traditional Chinese medicine, center for drug evaluation (GLP), center for pharmaceutical formulation technology and engineering research, department of analytical testing of pharmaceutical quality, and center for medical intelligence, covering the entire field of pharmaceutical research. On the basis of research activities the institute performed, center for drug innovation was established, focusing on drug discovery against cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes, which is dedicated to development of innovative technology and products with full intellectual property.Tianjin center for drug safety evaluation (GLP) certified by SFDA was founded as well. Based on pharmacokinetics Platform of national innovative drug, pre-clinical drug safety evaluation platform and integrated pharmacodynamics platform, three advanced subjects of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and drug safety evaluation have been established.
Recently, State key laboratory of drug delivery and pharmacokinetics led by Academician Chang-xiao LIU was granted by Ministry of Science and Technology, P.R.China. In the meanwhile, the institute was awarded “the innovative enterprises” by administrative agencies in 2009, and “second batch of national demonstration units of intellectual property” in 2010.
In the past years, Tianjin institute of Pharmaceutical Research has engaged in over 100 special projects of national key novel drug innovation; the number of new drug certificates and licenses for production granted by central authority is over 200, and patent application is over 460, which all have been commercialized. Apart from national projects, the institute also established broad collaborations with domestic pharmaceutical companies, research institutes and universities.
Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research conducted a wide range of scientific and technological cooperation and academic exchanges with overseas pharmaceutical companies, universities, research institutes of the US, Japan, UK, France and other countries and regions, close collaborative relationships were built.
Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research also hosts publication of a series of academic journals in pharmaceutical research field, including , , , . All four journals are censored by SFDA, industry and commerce administrative department, and the national press and publication administration, approval was given for commercial advertisement of prescription drugs as 1st batch of paper-based media in medical area.
Over the past decades, in the spirit of “dedication, integrity, innovation and outstanding”, researchers has made great contributions to pharmaceutical industry. TIPR will keep making efforts to serve the community and country in the future.
